We connect the world with all of Sandinavia
Here, you’ll find the widest range of shipping routes in the Nordics. We offer direct service to 60 global destinations, without the need for transshipment. From here, you also reach major transshipment hubs on the continent daily with frequent feeder traffic.
By transporting goods via rail to and from the port, you achieve an efficient logistics chain while reducing emissions. This is how we connect all of Sweden with the entire world.
A hub for freight handling
Gothenburg is a focal point for cargo handling without parallel in Scandinavia. 36.3 million tonnes of cargo was handled here during 2023, and 22,000 people are employed in the port. 70 trains travel to and from the Port of Gothenburg, every day, all year round – especially climate-smart, as they can travel all the way from 26 inland terminals, served by over 30 lines, all over Sweden and Norway right up to our quaysides.
Optimal location for Swedish industry
The port’s ideal location provides Swedish industry with access to destinations all over the world though direct services. There are also frequent departures to major transshipment hubs on the continent, as well as daily services to many major European ports. The Port of Gothenburg plays a crucial role for Swedish imports and exports, and is a leading actor when it comes to strengthening Sweden’s competitive strength.
Gothenburg is also the natural intersection between three Scandinavian capital cities, where several European highways converge. Oslo and Copenhagen are just 3–4 hours away by road. Its location at the mouth of the Göta Älv river also makes the Port of Gothenburg a hub for short sea shipping, with services from both inland and the surrounding coastal area.
