Cruise terminals.

Gothenburg offers the pulse of the big city, a globally unique archipelago and the biggest port in the Nordic region – all in one place. The easily accessible location on the west coast and the quick approach also help make the port an attractive stop for cruise ships. The cruise season extends all year round, as the port is always free of ice. With two dedicated cruise quays with associated terminals, as well as two additional quays providing the facility to moor the biggest vessels, we are well-equipped to welcome cruise ships of all sizes.

The America Terminal.

It is now more than one hundred years since the first liners departed from here bound for North America, a service that continued until 1975. The beautiful, historic terminal was revived in 2018 and is now Gothenburg’s central cruise terminal, just a stone’s throw from the centre of Gothenburg.

The terminal is on the same side as the city centre, within walking distance of the centre and the welcoming, vibrant districts of Linné, Haga and Järntorget. Just a few hundred metres from the quayside are the culturally and historically important areas of Masthugget and Majorna.

The Stigbergstorget square, which is adjacent to the America Terminal, offers a bustling blend of local music, amazing outdoor cafés and restaurants, and historical settings. Read more at Göteborg & Co.

In addition to the two dedicated cruise berths with associated terminals, there are two additional berths providing the facility to moor the biggest vessels. These are at Skandia Port and Älvsborg Port on Hisingen.

Skandia Port.

Skandia Port can receive cruise ships of any size, and the very biggest ships often dock here. It is about nine kilometres from Skandia Port to the centre of Gothenburg, a bus journey of around 15–20 minutes.

Älvsborg Port.

Älvsborg Port can receive cruise ships of up to 285 metres, and it is only 9 km from Älvsborg Port to the centre of Gothenburg, a bus journey of around 15–20 minutes. Guests are not free to move around independently due to ISPS regulations. Buses may, however, enter the ISPS area and park next to the ship. Taxis and local buses are available at the gate. Guests can take a free bus in the port to the gate.
