The Port of Gothenburg – a central part of the Cargo Hub
The Port of Gothenburg is a municipal company engaged in a broad range of operations with various business areas. We summarize our complex activities and roles in four key points: acting as an active landlord, marketing the port, managing port calls, and overseeing logistics properties. We are an integral part of Sweden's logistics chain. The port authority owns the port area, leases space to various actors, and manages the site – the cargo hub that is the Port of Gothenburg.
The cargo handling itself, meaning the loading and unloading of vessels, is carried out by partners appointed by the Port of Gothenburg. For these partners, the port authority exercises strategic oversight and control.
Our Mission
At the Port of Gothenburg, we work to maintain and manage infrastructure, land, and properties based on the needs of both our customers and society. We are committed to long-term port development, building new facilities, and constantly driving various initiatives to further enhance the port. The goal is to continue contributing to smart and efficient transportation for the goods of the industry. We promote the cargo hub and advocate for port-related issues on a regional, national, and international level.
We are responsible for the operation of the Energy Port and for ensuring that all vessel calls to the entire port are as safe, efficient, and environmentally sustainable as possible. We exercise oversight and strategic control over the operators we have appointed to manage terminal operations. The work to develop the cargo hub, the Port of Gothenburg, is a complex endeavor requiring the right expertise, innovation, and a focus on sustainable perspectives.
