Published: 2025-03-05
The Gothenburg region has been named the best logistics location in the Nordics by Dagens Logistik. With the largest port in the Nordics, an extensive railway network, and a central position for import and export, Gothenburg plays a crucial role in the future of Nordic logistics.

"We are happy and proud to once again be recognized as not only Sweden’s but now also the Nordics’ best logistics hub. Throughout the year, together with other logistics players in the region, we have worked intensively to create even better conditions for an innovative and growing freight hub that strengthens the region’s international competitiveness"
Jacob Minnhagen, Senior Market Development Manager at the Port of Gothenburg AB.

A new ranking with a Nordic focus

The list of the best logistics locations has existed for 25 years. This year, Dagens Logistik expanded the ranking from Sweden’s best logistics locations to the best in the Nordics. The Öresund region and the Mälardalen region rank second and third on the list. The purpose is to highlight regions with strong infrastructure, efficient freight flows, and the right expertise to function as strategic logistics hubs in an increasingly regionalized global economy.

The crucial role of the Gothenburg region

It is no surprise that the Gothenburg region tops the list. As home to the largest port in the Nordics and one of Europe’s most efficient logistics hubs, the region serves as a key point for both import and export. The Port of Gothenburg handles a significant share of Sweden’s and the Nordics' cargo flows, making it a crucial player in global trade.

According to Dagens Logistik, Gothenburg’s strengths lie primarily in its well-developed infrastructure, with the Port of Gothenburg at its core. The region also boasts extensive road, rail, and air transport infrastructure, including Landvetter Airport, creating a logistics hub with all the prerequisites for success.

– Our region is characterized by close collaboration between many stakeholders. We have long worked together with Swedavia Landvetter Airport and Business Region Gothenburg. In recent years, we have also expanded our collaboration with Borås City and Business Region Borås to strengthen cooperation in the broader region. Together, we are working to become even more attractive for business establishments. Here, there is a skilled workforce, well-developed infrastructure, and available land ready for development both now and in the future, says Jacob Minnhagen.

– We continue to develop the port’s surrounding area and construct additional logistics properties, adding to those built in recent years. For example, the construction of OneMed’s new 45,000-square-meter central warehouse is in full swing in collaboration with Castellum, he adds.
